They keep you warm against the nail-biting cold, bring down your electrical expenses, and even humidify the air. However, the primal reason why cast iron radiators are used by a large number of people is due to its even-heating system. The ability to heat a room gently and evenly can be only achieved by these radiators. Since these has played an important role in past, let’s explore the history of these radiators in a brief way.

The first freestanding radiator was designed in the year 1860 by an American contractor named Joseph Nason. What he designed was an accordion-shaped iron manifold with rods in the center to hold the sections together. A single pipe of the steam system ran from the boiler to the radiator. He found out that as the water was boiled and the steam rose higher in order to fill the radiator, the water also started circulating into the fins. This radiated heat in the entire room.

By the time it reached the 1900s, these one-pipe systems were replaced by two-pipe radiators where one pipe was required to carry water from the boiler to the radiator and the other to travel back to the boiler and repeat the cycle. These two-pipe or traditional radiators became highly famous and their popularity never died, which is the result why we used them till today.

The Victorian radiators with embossed scroll work and floral carving are the marks of the bygone era and their ultra-unique craftsmanship. With all kinds of shapes and sizes, you can easily find these radiators for sale. There are various online dealers that supply qualitative and uniquely crafted radiators. You can search online if you want. There are numerous providers available with full-fledged sites where you can find your own radiator and have it fixed in your house in no time.
